Not much was occurring within the stock market on Thursday, and the key indexes reflected it.
The S&P 500 was down 0.3% after moving between positive and negative territory. The Dow was down 31 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.4%.
Market breadth was terrible, with 322 of S&P 500 stocks on the right track to shut down on the day. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF, a proxy for breadth because it counts every stock within the index the identical, was down 0.3%.
