By the top of this month, taxpayers may receive a stimulus check as much as $1,400, depending on how they filed their 2021 tax returns.
The Internal Revenue Service announced in December that it could be distributing about $2.4 billion − as much as $1,400 per individual − price of stimulus checks to U.S. taxpayers who didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.
In accordance with the IRS, this round of stimulus checks was established after the agency reviewed internal data showing that many eligible taxpayers who filed a 2021 tax return didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit, a refundable credit for individual who didn’t receive a number of Economic Impact Payments, more commonly often known as stimulus payments.
Here’s what to know in regards to the IRS’ latest round of stimulus checks and who’s eligible to receive them.

Taxpayers who didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns are eligible for the most recent stimulus check.
Taxpayers can check in the event that they claimed this credit by taking a look at their 2021 tax return and checking in the event that they left the Recovery Rebate Credit field blank or filled it out as $0.
Taxpayers don’t must take motion to receive the most recent stimulus check. The IRS began robotically sending out payments in December, and they’re going to proceed through late January.
Eligible taxpayers will receive a letter notifying them of the payment, and the payments will either be robotically direct deposited or sent by paper check.
An eligible taxpayer may receive as much as $1,400, in line with the IRS.
Taxpayers who didn’t file a 2021 tax return should be eligible for the stimulus check in the event that they file their return and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit by April 15, in line with the IRS.
